The European Honey Bee is the species most prevalent in the US, although the Africanized Honey Bee seems to get all the press. Honey Bee nests can become quite large although most nests average between 10,000 - 20,000 bees, it is not uncommon for nests to reach 50,000 bees. There are many times when Honey Bees create nests that present a danger to people or animals and they need to be removed. When such nests decide to live too close to humans or domestic animals, conflict is inevitable. Africanized Bees have been names "Killer Bees" because they can display a fierce and aggressive behavior not commonly seen with native bees.
